Calgary Block Parent Association Closure Media Release

The Calgary Block Parent Association is closing its doors.

At an annual general meeting in January, the Board of Directors advised that it would be proceeding with the wind-up of the Association, citing a decline in volunteers, a potentially more cumbersome screening process for volunteers and fundraising concerns as reasons.

The shut-down is now at the point where all Block Parent signs must be completely and properly collected for community and child safety purposes. Block Parent signs can be dropped off at any Calgary Police Service district office. Decals on windows must also be removed.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank all of the volunteers for their contributions to the program over the years,” says Board Chair Lori Caltagirone. “Our job now is to make sure that all Block Parent signs are removed so that children and families know that the program is no longer in effect.  We are truly disappointed about this great loss to our community”

If you have any questions or concerns on how to return your sign or remove a decal off your window please contact Tami Liknes at (403) 668-7885 or .

If you have any questions relating to the wind-up of the Association or any other matter, please contact Lori Caltagirone at (403) 836-3538 or .
