Block
Parent volunteers ... sharing their time,
making a difference.
CBPA
depends on good volunteers - like you!
There is a wide variety of opportunities available
from the Board of Directors, Community
Coordinators, Public Promotion and School
Program Volunteers. There's something for Teens,
for Seniors and everyone
in between! To join our team contact the
office to find a position that's right for you.
Board
of Directors
CBPA is run by a volunteer
Board of Directors. A brief outline of the duties and time commitment
for these roles is available. For more information
or to discuss volunteering for a position please contact the
CBPA office.
Community
Coordinators
Communication between residential
Block Parents and the Association is maintained by volunteers in
each active Block Parent community in the city. This vital
job requires only 3-4 hours per month. We request a commitment
of two years where possible, to establish good communication
in the community job
description.

School Programs (Sept
- June)
Another opportunity that you may find interesting is assisting
with or participating in school programs. Full training is
provided. This is a great opportunity to interact with elementary
school children to teach them about the Block Parent Program
and personal safety.
Public Promotion
Calgary Block Parent Association participates in many public
events throughout the year. Volunteers are asked to fill a
2.5 to 4.5 hour shift at these events. Volunteers who have
indicated an interest in this work will be called prior to
an event when they are needed, and are free to refuse or accept
the request. Contact CBPA if you
would like to be added to our volunteer list.

Teens
Teens are encouraged to promote Block Parent to school children
and the general public. Volunteer opportunities include: face
painting, wearing the mascot (Bucko and Notalone) costume at
special events and school programs. We welcome your creative
ideas for other activities.
Seniors
Many of the volunteer positions available are ideal for seniors.
Flexible hours mean that these duties can be fitted into most
lifestyles. If you would like to make your community safer, become
a Block Parent, consider helping with special events, school
presentations or serving on the Board of Directors.
